When we think luxury watches there are the usual suspects that stand out. Rolex (obvi), Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier. Others also creep in, you’ll hear Omega, Brietling, Blancpain….& Longines.
For some time I longed for the Cartier De Panthere! And still do to this day! However I also liked the Cartier Tank & decided to purchase. Doing some research though, I stumbled across the Longines Dolcevita, very similar looking, 18k Gold, leather strap…quartz movement, same as the Cartier Tank Americaine. Both water restistant up to 3 bar, the Dolcevita 0.386 carat of diamonds, The Cartier Tank Americaine 0.55 carat of diamonds.
To me, they are undeniably similar & yet the price difference (at time of writing) was around $10,000!
Girls…we are sleeping on this brand! Longines has a RICH history & interestingly enough is one of the only brands on the world that still uses it’s original Logo – a testament to their commitment to their belief in their brand – it has remained unchanged. It also remains the oldest watch brand trademarked in the International Registry at WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation).
Founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier, a town in Swiss Jura mountains by Auguste Agassiz in 1832, Longines developed, as early as 1878, its first instrument for timing sport events: a chronograph pocket watch with a monopusher crown. Today they sponsor major sporting events in Skiing & Equestrian.
The price point is incredible, amazing features & design that will hold value. The epitome of classic quiet luxury – this is a brand to add to any serious watch collection.
